November is here and our class is feeling like a group, we are starting to work together like a unit/team. We are realizing how we all affect one another, and how our different roles are connected.
This link covers a lot of ground. As a class we really enjoy reading! Reading with me at the Rainbow table, listening to stories that I read to your child each day, and the books they read during SSR- Silent (not so in Kinder) Sustained Reading, where they spend 20-30 minutes a day reading books of their choice for pleasure, either alone or with a friend.
As we continue to practice working in groups, I focus on activities that include everybody, so each child has a hand in helping to complete a project. This supports problem-solving skills, sharing the load, including others, and learning how to participate in groups.
Centers are getting a little better. We are still practicing working with less adult support. Students have been learning Kinder sight words, reading the room, rhyming, and counting syllables in bigger words.
We completed our class Mandala - and it looks great! It is hanging outside our classroom.
The Harvest Party was a huge success, as was the indoor parade. Your generosity, time, and contributions to making this day so fun, made it go smoothly. I appreciate every adult who could attend, every craft, bag of apples, treat, mini- pumpkin, cider, golf tee, and napkin! Thank you parents, for organizing such a wonderful day for our class.
We said a sad farewell to our friend, Anni Li, whose family moved to a new district. We plan to keep in touch via e-mail, but we will miss her as a member of our class.
Another shout out to ALL our families. You are sending your child to school ready to learn, and with a curious enthusiasm for school. I also appreciate all the healthy snacks. Thank you for making Kindergarten a great place to grow and learn.
