We had the Bat Conservatory come to share with us on Monday. Ask your child what they learned and what they want to learn more... about bats!
Welcome- "Angry Bird" - Class Pet!
We have a Class Pet-a Guinea Pig. This is a part of our science curriculum and we are so excited to have a guinea pig visit with us this year! We have been learning about how to take care of a pet and what animals need to survive. Our guinea pig is going to help us with this because he will need food, bedding, and water- things we can work together to provide for him. Here are some things that we could use some help with:
1. Angry Bird, needs a place to stay on the weekends. If you are willing to do this please send me an email and I can set up dates for that. He has an easy travel cage for the weekend. ALL supplies/instructions will be provided to you.
2. Food - He likes fresh veggies like carrots, celery, lettuce, and dandelion greens
- Or guinea pig pellets and Natural Timothy Hay (both can be bought at pet store)
3 Bedding - Carefresh Natural pet bedding
If you would like to help with any of these things, we would greatly appreciate it :)
SPECIAL VISITOR TO THE THURSTON KINDERGARTENS
The Scrap Box will visit the Thurston Kindergartens on Monday, December 17 for some fun project-making. We will need three parent volunteers for our session, (watch this site for updates--time TBA). If you haven’t visited The Scrap Box before, it’s one of Ann Arbor’s great resources for creativity with kids! You can check them out on the web at scrapbox.org.
TURNING PENNIES INTO DOLLARS: A KINDERGARTEN FUNDRAISER
The Thurston Kindergarten classes are hosting a Coin Drive to collect money for our December fundraiser. We have purchased Thurston bumper stickers, magnets, and other items which will be for sale during Bagel Fridays, starting soon. Since we will also be starting our Class Collections in math, this year, one of our collections will be coins! Please send in your loose change to fill the Pennies to Dollars jar, and help us get our fundraiser off the ground!
Also, if you regularly come to Bagel Friday, and would be willing to help with fundraiser sales, please contact Patricia Pacania (Nathan’s mom, Ms. Anderson's class). She will be coordinating our parent volunteers.
