We had a FABULOUS trip today. The program was geared to our age group, the presenters were great, our Stewart Stars were wonderful guests and we had a great day! Thank you to all the parents who were able to take some time to be with our group today. We are getting closer to gaining a classroom pet, we learned a lot about the care and responsibility of pet ownership. https://docs.google.com/open?id=0BxFEBP1chmdKd01MUkJKNWxsYVU Have a great Thanksgiving! Thank you to Mrs. Agarwal - Saumil's mother- for coming to our class and sharing about the biggest Hindu holiday, Diwali. We learned about the history, the legends, some of the customs and traditions of this Festival of Lights. I invite and encourage all families to come to our room to share their family traditions and customs during holidays. Our trip to the Humane Society is this coming Monday, Nov. 19. we leave at 9:30. I have 5 parent volunteers and cannot accept any more at this time. Please consider sending in a donation of supplies to the shelter in lieu of money. Also, I apologize, but we cannot accommodate any siblings on this trip. If you offered to help , but have a younger child, I need to ask you to help us another time. I need a few more permission slips, too. The Turkey Trot takes place on Tuesday, Nov. 20. Kindergarten is scheduled to take off at 12:20 near the 3rd grade playground at the back of Thurston. All parent help is greatly appreciated. Contact Margaret Baker [email protected] for more info. Hello Families! It's November and the weather has defintely changed. It was great to see so many of you at the Fall Social- which was a fantastic event! We finished up our Collections in Nature science unit by making our AWESOME t-shirts! Our purple poem books came home on Friday.Take a minute to read through them with your child. Most of the poems have Kindergarten sights words included. We have learned: see, up , a, can, we, has, go, and my. You will also find your child's vote for their favorite apple, and their 'M' book - which they can read to you. We will begin Unit 3 in Math, which covers: Symetry, patterns, number recognition, balance and weight, domino math, measurement, probability stories, basic graphing, and counting by 10s. Your child has been introduced to Harold and the Purple Crayon and we are in the middle of an author study of Crockett Johnson. Most of the class has now had a turn with a Story Bag. We will be starting the second round of turns this week. A HUGE THANK YOU, to all of the families that sent supplies, donated their time, set up and organized one very, successful, and enjoyable Harvest Day Celebration and parade! I appreciate all of you. Thanks to our Room Parents, Tori and Marianne for organizing this event. I have never seen so much food, crafts, and activities. I could have never changed all the little ones into their costumes and walked that journey alone. Thank you. The class had a lovely time. I appreciate your time as you come to talk about the school year during conferences. I LOVE this experience. I learn so much more about your child when we are able to talk 1:1. Please think ahead ... would you like to come into our classroom and share your holiday traditions? We would love to learn how families celebrate all the many, different holidays.
