Well, we have added Juan Louis and Adeola to our birthday celebrations. Happy Birthday to you both! This last week's Huron Huddle earned us our second trophy for the year. We worked for and earned the lunch room trophy and award Hooray stars! We were able to watch the 2nd graders lead the Huddle and see some of our siblings perform from Mrs. Seavitt's and Mrs. Dey's classes. During this weeks huddle , Thurston was presented with a $3000.00 check from Bank of America. Ms. Rothfeld applied and gathered support for the most votes in the WISD! This money will be used for the arts/ music program at Thurston. The bank representative was a former Thurston student himself. Go Herons!!!
We have had a few performances from our classmates, Bobby played the classroom keyboard for us, and Carloline played her violin for the class... perhaps Kindergarten will have some talent show entries?

Dr. Keller, Noelle' mom, came to share her expertise as a veterinarian from U of M for our Classroom Pet unit. She reinforced the needs, care, and responsibility of owning and caring for a pet. We also took her presentation props and turned them into a class book. Thank you Mrs. Keller for sharing your time and expertise!
Also tied in with our science, Dave Szczygiel came to our classroom to share his collections from nature. This is a district sponsored and supported program that all Kinder classes receive. He also talked with us about the changing seasons and how the different animals in our state of Michigan come and go according to their varied needs. We were able to explore, examine, draw, observe and wonder ...
We are still working on using our 'whisper' voice during our SSR time. We are reading for a full 30 minutes.
In centers we are working on cooperating, organizing our time, practicing being a leader, and how to plan our day.
I am including Annie Li's address. She has written our class and we are getting ready to send her a letter back. Some families wanted to keep in touch.

We ended the month with a very cold, but fun, Turkey Trot. We ran our hearts out looking for that turkey! I finally found him out with the big kids, so I took a photo for proof. He must have been hiding from our Kinders or taking his nap....
Want to know what your child did at school? Ask them about some of the above topics, or what centers they went to today, or who they ate snack with, or what specials they had today...
