As winter nears, I realize how quickly we are moving through our school year. We have hit day 70! There will be a celebration on the 100th day of school. We are wrapping up our Class Pet Science Unit, and we had a friendly visit from Otis, the Lab/Beagle. Mr. Stewart brought Otis to school to meet the Stars. He will definitely be back for a follow up visit.
We have been enjoying "autumn's" snow ...we check the calendar each day to see if we have officially hit the winter mark ... a few more days. I am finding out that this class loves its outside time. ( me too.)

We had the good fortune of having WWC medical students come to Thurston to share the Teddy Bear clinic with our Kinders. They covered our five senses, healthy habits, nutricious choices and the importance of keeping active and moving our bodies. The professionals from WCC planned, prepared and executed fantastic, interactive, and meaningful lessons for our students.
We have begun sharing and learning more about the many ways families celebrate. We had the pleasure of a visit from Nishka's mom, who shared about Diwali, and the many traditions associated with this celebration. We also celebrated Lea's 6th birthday. I would like to invite any family to come in and share their family's traditions and celebrations with our Stars.
The Children's Theater Guild came on Friday to perform a science-themed play for the Thurston students. The focus was on the scientific method and how it ca be applied to more that a science lab scenario.
We EARNED the Music Trophy this week.
Hooray STARS! Please talk with your student about this honor. We have been talking about the difference between winning and earning something that we seek.
Our month will end with a Snow Party on Thursday. We will have winter-themed centers planned and prepared by YOU ~ our parents. Thank you for ALL that you do to make this first year so successful in your child's educational career.
Wishing every family a restful and peaceful break.
